God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21

“하나님이 죄를 알지도 못하신 자로 우리를 대신하여 죄를 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 저의 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이니라” - 고후 5:21

 

Why does Paul endure so much suffering to preach about Christ? He discusses eternity here, comparing our earthly bodies to living in a tent. Paul would rather live in the eternal body God has prepared for those who trust in Christ, free from the groaning and burden that afflicts everyone here. With that to look forward to, he preaches with courage that all in Christ are new creations. In Christ, God reconciles people to Himself, not counting their sins against them. Paul implores everyone to be reconciled to God through faith in Christ.

바울이 고난을 견디며 그리스도를 전파하는 이유가 무엇일까요? 그는 우리의 삶을 육신의 장막에 사는 것과 비교하여 영원한 생명을 언급합니다. 그리스도를 믿는 자들이 영원한 생명을 가지고 살며 육신의 고통과 모든 탄식과 어려움에서 벗어나기를 원한다고 하며 그리스도 안에 있는 자는 영원한 생명을 가진 새로운 피조물이라고 담대히 전합니다. 하나님은 그리스도를 통하여 죄인들과 화해하시고 죄를 자신들에게 돌리지 않기 때문에 모든 그리스도를 믿고  하나님과 화목하라고 바울은 모든 사람들에게 간청합니다.

Paul puts even more on the central message of the gospel. He delivered this same teaching to the Corinthians and many others worldwide. This verse may be the most concise gospel presentation in all Scripture.

바울은 여기서 복음의 중요한 부분을 분명히 전합니다. 그가 전한 복음은 고린도 사람들과 모든 나라의 많은 사람들에게 전한 같은 복음의 말씀을 전합니다. 본문의 구절 말씀은 성경 전체에서 복음을 가장 간결하게 표현하고 있는 말씀입니다. 

 

God acted for our sake. That means God acted out of His love to make it possible to remove the separation between Him and us: our sin. To accomplish this, God made Christ, who had never sinned during His life on Earth, to become our sin. Jesus' death, then, paid the price for our sins, removing our guilt and the obstacle between God and us. In short, through His gift of grace and our faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9), God receives Christ's death as payment for our sins and gives us credit for Christ's righteousness in return. That's what it means to be "in Christ."

하나님은 우리를 위하여 놀라운 일을 행하셨습니다. 하나님과 우리와 사이의 죄의 담을 허시기 위해 하나님의 사랑으로 역사하셨습니다. 하나님은 죄를 알지도 못하시는 그리스도를 하나님의 사랑의 역사를 이루기 위해 우리의 죄로 대신 삼으신 것입니다. 예수님의 죽음은 우리가 담당해야 할 죄의 책임을 도말하신 것이고 죄의 대가를 대신 지불하신 입니다. 하나님은 우리의 믿음을 보시고 구원의 은혜의 선물을 주셨습니다(엡 2:8-9), 하나님은 예수님의 죽음을 우리의 죄의 대가로 받으시고 그리스도의 의를 주신 것입니다. 이것이 그리스도 안에 있다는 뜻입니다. 

 

When God chose us, according to the Bible, He predestined us by His sovereignty when we did not know it (Ephesians 1:4). It means that God's choosing is before man's need or before the existence of man. John Calvin said, "The time of predestination itself shows God's grace. What qualification can we earn before the creation, and with what work?" 

하나님께서 우리를 택정 하실 때 성경은 그의 절대주권으로 예정하셨다고 말씀합니다(엡 1:4). 하나님의 택정은 인간의 필요 이전과 존재 이전에 있었다는 것을 의미합니다. 요한 칼빈은 “예정의 시기 자체가 하나님의 은혜를 보여 주고 있다. 창세 전에 구원받기 위해 우리가 무슨 자격을 얻을 수 있고, 어떤 공로를 쌓을 수 있겠는가?”라고 말합니다. 

 

And the purpose of God's election is found in Himself alone (Ephesians 1:5). God's election indicates God's love itself. Predestination and love cannot ever be divided. God did not choose us by a gambling method of rolling dice. Therefore, predestination, chosen by love, fate, and changeable status, cannot exist. God predestined us and chose us, following his pleasure and will.'

하나님의 택정의 목적은 하나님 자신에게서 발견할 수 있고(엡 1:5) 하나님의 사랑 자체를 의미하며 예정과 사랑은 영원히 불가분의 관계에 있습니다. 하나님은 도박하는 식으로 우리를 택정 한 것이 아닙니다. 그러므로 사랑으로 택정 하신 하나님의 예정에는 운명이나 변덕 같은 것이 존재하지 않습니다. 하나님은 그의 기쁘신 뜻대로’ 우리를 예정하시고 택한 것입니다.

 

Also, God's choosing is done through Jesus Christ. When we see that all creation is fulfilled through Jesus Christ, God's predestination is fulfilled through Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:16-18). Colossians praises that the existence of all creation came about by Jesus, and Ephesians tells us that Jesus is the beginning and foundation of all things. The one who carries out the history, and that choice and election are fulfilled through Jesus Christ. Jesus substituted himself for our sins and curses on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21). 

하나님은 또한 예수 그리스도를 통해서 택정 하셨습니다. 모든 창조가 예수 그리스도를 통해서 이루어진 것을 보면 하나님의 예정하심도 예수 그리스도를 통해서 이루어진 것을 알 수 있습니다(골 1:16-18). 골로새서가 모든 창조가 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 이루어진 것을 찬송한다면 에베소서는 모든 피조물의 시작과 근원과 역사의 수행자이시며 택정과 예정뿐만 아니라 구원을 성취하신 예수 그리스도를 찬양하고 있다고 볼 수 있습니다. 예수 그리스도 자신이 십자가 위에서 우리의 죄와 저주를 위해 우리 대신 받으신 것입니다 (고후 5:21). 

 

Therefore, we are predestined and chosen through Jesus Christ. John Stott said that predestination is the priority truth and "the doctrine of predestination is God's revelation, not man's conjecture." This doctrine is not developed from the theology of Martin Luther, John Calvin, Saint Augustine, or Apostle Paul. Still, a revelation came from God Himself, so we must accept this truth humbly. 

그러므로 우리는 예수 그리스도를 통하여 예정과 택정함을 받았습니다. 존 스토트는 “예정의 교리는 최우선의 진리이고 예정의 교리는 하나님의 계시이며, 인간의 추측이 아니다”라고 말합니다. 이 교리는 마틴 루터나 요한 칼빈. 또는 성 어거스틴, 바울 신학에서 발전된 것이 아니라 하나님 자신으로부터 나온 계시이기 때문에 이 진리를 겸허히 받아들여야 합니다. 

 

Today's Prayer: Ask God to show himself to specific friends so they are impressed by his great acts of love and call upon him in truth rather than continuing toward destruction (Psalm 145:17-20). Pray that your faithful praise will attract them to worshipful lives of praise (Psalm 145:21).
